The 10th Kingdom tells the tale of world that is half reality and half fiction, beloved by fans since its debut in February of 2000 on NBC. Here are some fun facts about the fantasy flick.
The 10th Kingdom pays tribute to strong women, but in parts of the miniseries, these women are fictional characters. It is said in the first episode that "There are Five Women Who Changed History. They are: Snow White, Cinderella, Queen Riding Hood, Gretel the Great and The Lady Rapunzel'." These five fictional females are considered powerful and great in the mystical world represented in
The 10th Kingdom.
Speaking of strong females, Virginia Lewis, the protagonist in the miniseries, is played by actress Kimberly Williams. Since
The 10th Kingdom, Williams has married country singer Brad Paisley, had two children, and starred in recurring roles on
Nashville and
Two and a Half Men.
Throughout the series, fan favorite Wolf, played by Scott Cohen, scratches his head 34 times.
Wolf also mutters Nine Kingdoms curse words when he is frustrated or angered. These profanities include the words "Cripes" and "Huff-puff".
Ironically, Wolf hates dogs.
And, if you pay close attention to the miniseries, you'll see that:
- the map of the Nine Kingdoms is just a modified map of Europe.
- Virginia lives on E. 81st St. in New York City
- toward the beginning, Tony wears a Yankees hat in the elevator
- some scenes in "Kissingtown" were filmed in the French town of Requewihr.
